ISOSC 2025 Successfully Delivered in Suzhou

 2025-09-05

On September 2nd, the International Symposium on Open Science Clouds 2025 (ISOSC 2025) was successfully held at Nanjing University, Suzhou Campus. Sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, ISOSC 2025 is convened by the International Programme Office of the Global Open Science Cloud Initiative (GOSC IPO), the Suzhou Center of the International Research Center for Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals, and CODATA.

Thanks to the joint local organizing efforts of CSTCloud, Computer Network Information Center, CAS (CNIC, CAS), and the Institute of Space Earth Science at Nanjing University, experts from domestic and international leading research e-infrastructures joined this event onsite and online.

It is our honor to support open science with both longstanding and new friends in the efforts to adopt SDGs and other data-intensive collaborations led by research teams, says Prof. Chun Long, Deputy Director General of CNIC, CAS.

In addition to research e-infrastructures, trust, openness, and collaboration are also crucial. This Suzhou dialogue can take another step forward, further emphasized by Professor Kunshan Chen, Dean of the Institute of Space Earth Science, Nanjing University.

Welcome remarks

The two professors welcomed ISOSC attendees and emphasized the significance of Open Science e-infrastructures and open collaboration modules in advancing SDGs research and fostering joint efforts in these fields during their opening remarks.

ISOSC 2025 is centered on “Co-developing Open, Resilient, and Intelligible Research E-infrastructures for Future Open Science and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” Thirty-five reports contribute to sessions covering trends in global open science and the SDGs, transforming Open Science Clouds in the AI era, managing open science resources for the SDGs, and future development of the GOSC. The panel discussion also addressed the gaps and opportunities in exploring a practical work plan for future-led development to expand Open Science.
