Background
GOSC IPO is tasked with fostering science communication and capacity building within and beyond the GOSC ecosystem. To achieve this mission, we’ve supported a diverse range of conferences and training programs, including the 2022&2023 International Training Workshop on Open Science and SDGs (online/onsite, Beijing), the International Symposium on Open Science Clouds, ISOSC (onsite, Beijing), the GOSC SDG-13 International Workshop (onsite, Bangkok), and the 2024 GOSC Technical Workshop (onsite, Kenya). Through these efforts, our goal is to democratize scientific knowledge, making it openly accessible on a global scale. Adhering to the open science spirits, we aspire to foster closer scientific collaboration across various domains and disciplines while advocating for responsible open science practices worldwide. In 2024, we are planning to launch a series of lightweight online webinars tailored to diverse stakeholders within GOSC communities. These webinars will cover a broad spectrum of open-science topics, including open-science policies and governance, data resources and tools, cutting-edge technologies, and disciplinary demonstrations. By engaging in these online webinars, attendees have chances to earn unique GOSC badges or certificates, which serve as recognition of their proficiency in open science skills and techniques.

- China Science and Technology Cloud (CSTCloud)
Conveners:
- GOSC International Program Office (GOSC IPO)
- African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD)
Training Overview
In this training program, participants will immerse themselves in the dynamic realm of cloud technology, specifically focusing on CSTCloud’s Yunkun Software System. The entire training program is divided into two parts, each tailored to different levels of expertise. The first part is tailored for general cloud users, with the goal of empowering African data scientists and domain experts by providing a thorough grasp of GOSC cloud federation technology. It also offers practical insights into the utilization of virtual machines and object storage services. The second part targets cloud SysOps engineers with a solid grasp of cloud technology. These courses will facilitate hands-on sessions focusing on the installation and application of EVCloud and IHarbor within the Yunkun system.
Target Trainees & Objectives
To fulfil the mission of AICAD, AOSP and GOSC, the training program is primarily targeted towards African researchers and data scientists. However, as a free online event, the program will be open to all interested colleagues.Throughout the series, participants will:
- Understand GOSC cloud federation technology, thus fostering proficiency in its adoption across domains and regions;
- Master the usage and functionalities of GOSC-integrated cloud software with hands-on expertise;
- Connect with like-minded professionals and experts in the field, fostering valuable networking opportunities;
- Lay the groundwork for collaborative efforts in building GOSC in Africa during the next phase, fostering a foundation for effective cross-continent cooperation.
