GOSC IPO leads a new CODATA TG for open-science-cloud adoption

 2026-02-09

Recently, representatives from the Global Open Science Cloud (GOSC) International Program Office (IPO) participated in the CODATA National Committee Call. This new-year meeting focused on reviewing the CODATA TGs’ work plan for 2025-2027.

The GOSC IPO leads the Open Science Cloud Service XI Metadata Task Group supported by CSTCloud. In line with the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science, this group will leverage GOSC’s five-year efforts and the development of a national standard to establish a unified metadata framework. The goal is to address interoperability challenges in sharing research resources, such as data, computing, and software, across fields and regions by adopting an everything-as-a-service approach. Deliverables will be validated through the GOSC initiative and encouraged for wider adoption across different domains and regions, ensuring that the metadata schema remains reusable, scalable, and adaptable. Hopefully, this will support large-scale, cross-domain collaboration and comprehensive cloud service management over the next two years (GOSC IPO).
